Oct 16, 2012 If you install it, then only AutoCAD can use it. The SHX fonts are stored in support folder. You can see where your AutoCAD store it in AutoCAD option, files tab. In this example, I use AutoCAD 2013. My SHX fonts are stored in C:Program FilesAutodeskAutoCAD 2013Fonts. To let AutoCAD recognize the fonts, simply copy SHX fonts to that folder. You can specify the scale and rotation to use for each shape as you add it. AutoCAD SHP fonts are a special type of shape file, and are defined in the same way as shape files. Blocks are more versatile and easier to use and apply than shapes. However, shapes are more efficient for AutoCAD to store and draw. ESRI SHP files store both geometry and attributes (data) for features. A single shape can have as many as five physical files with the same filename, but different file extensions. To import from SHP. Click Insert tab Import panel Map Import. In the Import Location dialog box, under Files Of Type, select shp. Select the file or folder to. Description
The program Autodesk® AutoCAD® supports the Unicode character-encoding standard.
SHX font encoded, using the Unicode standard font, can contain many more characters than are defined in the Windows system; therefore, to use a character not directly available from the keyboard, you can enter the escape sequence U+nnnn, where nnnn represents the Unicode hexadecimal value for the character.
Examples:
U+00B0 - Degrees symbol (°)
U+00B1 - Tolerance symbol (±)
U+2205 - Diameter symbol (Ø)
We have the most AutoCAD SHX fonts, including many important Unicode special characters needed in the fields of engineering and mathematics.
These extended SHX fonts bear the name K_ .... .shx and can be found in the AutoCAD directory ... /Fonts after they are copied there, per our installation software.
We supply the following SHX fonts:
- K_isocp.shx as a modified version of the Font isocp.shx.
- K_isocp2.shx as a modified version of the Font isocp2.shx.
- K_isocp3.shx as a modified version of the Font isocp3.shx.
- K_isoct.shx as a modified version of the Font isoct.shx.
- K_isoct3.shx as a modified version of the Font isoct3.shx.
- K_txt.shx as a modified version of the Font txt.shx.
- K_simpl.shx as a modified version of the Font simpl.shx.
- K_romt.shx as a modified version of the Font romt.shx.
- K_roms.shx as a modified version of the Font roms.shx.
- K_romd.shx as a modified version of the Font romd.shx.
- K_romc.shx as a modified version of the Font romc.shx.
- K_italct.shx as a modified version of the Font italct.shx.
- K_italcc.shx as a modified version of the Font italcc.shx.
- K_italic.shx as a modified version of the Font italic.shx.
To use these fonts declare them using the AutoCAD command “style” and simply choose the font you want to use.
You can also rename the k_... .shx fonts in ... .shx and overwrite the original SHX fonts in the
AutoCAD directory ...Fonts with new fonts.
This app uses a custom installer (and not the standard App Store installer).

Issue:
How to add a font file into an AutoCAD installation.Solution:
AutoCAD supports SHX and TrueType fonts.Installing an SHX font:
Copy .shx files into the Fonts folder within the AutoCAD program folder:
C:Program FilesAutodeskAutoCAD 20xxFonts
Note: PostScript fonts (.pfb) and shape files (.shp) can be converted to .shx by using the COMPILE command in AutoCAD.
Installing a TrueType font:
AutoCAD reads TrueType (.ttf) fonts that are installed in the operating system. TTF files do not go into AutoCAD's own Fonts folder. Copy .ttf files into:
C:WindowsFonts
As an alternative, you may right-click a .ttf file and choose Install.
Note: Windows XP and Vista systems require going to the Control Panel and opening Fonts and then using 'Install new font' under the Font menu.
